This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

We are recruiting a Product Designer to join our Product Development team in Radstock. This is a hands-on technical design role for someone who can turn customer requirements and design concepts into practical, commercially viable products supported by accurate manufacturing information.

You will take ownership of assigned design activities, working closely with manufacturing, estimating, commercial and project teams to deliver solutions that meet agreed quality, cost and programme requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop new and existing products from initial concept through design approval and release.
  • Create and refine 3D models, detailed 2D drawings, manufacturing drawings and fabrication information.
  • Support prototype development, product trials, testing and design validation, incorporating findings into final designs.
  • Check drawings and technical information for accuracy, completeness, tolerances and compliance with specifications.
  • Create and maintain bills of materials, production routes and manufacturing data.
  • Manage engineering changes and ensure approved revisions are reflected across all affected design and production information.
  • Provide practical technical support during manufacture and help resolve design issues.
  • Monitor delivery against quality, cost and programme requirements, escalating risks where necessary.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience creating 3D models and detailed 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD, or similar software.
  • The ability to interpret customer specifications and translate them into practical, manufacturable designs.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes such as metal fabrication, machining and assembly.
  • Experience in manufacturing, interiors, construction or a related technical design environment.
  • A strong approach to drawing accuracy, tolerances, revision control and technical documentation.
  • The ability to organise competing priorities and deliver accurate work to agreed deadlines.
  • An understanding of cost, value, quality and manufacturing efficiency in design decisions.

Desirable

  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems.
  • A BTEC Level 3/4, NVQ, ONC, HNC or comparable qualification in Product Design, Mechanical Design or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.

About You

You will be accurate, practical and solution-focused, with the confidence to challenge assumptions and resolve technical issues. You will communicate clearly, work collaboratively and take ownership of commitments while remaining adaptable as priorities change.
